Silver Commodity Markets Around the World

Silver is one of the precious metals that are traded in various different markets. There are all sorts of silver commodity markets that offer sales of silver options and futures and some sales by the troy ounce. These include its main trading center in Chicago and various others around the world. Here's a look at these places that offer silver options and futures.

The main place for trading silver is the Chicago Board of Trade. For more than 150 years the CBOT has served for various different commodities and it remains as one of the top futures exchange markets in the world. Silver has continued to be one of the major items traded at the CBOT over the years. The status of the CBOT was cemented when the CBOT merged with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in 2007 to form the CME Group, and it plans to acquire the parent company of the New York Mercantile Exchange in the near future.

The New York Mercantile Exchange is another commodity market that features silver. Like the CBOT, the NYMEX has worked since the nineteenth century in the field of commodity trading. The NYMEX has been involved in trading silver since 1933 when the National Metal Exchange and other smaller exchanges were merged together to form the New York Commodities Exchange, one of the NYMEX subsections.

The Tokyo Commodity Exchange also offers services for trading silver with silver options and futures. This has been offered since the Tokyo Gold Exchange merged with two other smaller exchanges to form the TOCOM. Futures in silver are traded through the TOCOM, but options are not available for it like they are for gold at this exchange.

Silver options and futures are also traded at the Multi Commodity Exchange. Based out of Mumbai, this group is ranked as one of the top markets in the world of silver futures trading. In fact, it is estimated that more than one billion dollars are turned over every day at the MCX through investors from all continents.

The Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange is the last of the major markets that offer silver investing options. Silver futures are offered, which can be great investments. In fact, the DGCX has member offices throughout the world, including offices in Chicago, London and Auckland. The group also serves Deutsche Bank, the National Bank of Dubai and HSBC among other banks around the world.

Those are some of the various silver commodity markets where silver can be traded as a commodity. Options and futures for silver are available throughout the world, most notably through the CBOT in Chicago. With these centers around the world it can be seen that silver options and futures are among the most popular things to check out in silver investing.
